March

Went to the Tour De Champagne a couple of weeks ago. Tried bidding on some of the auction items (to benefit the Greater Boston Food Bank) only to lose at the last minute. So this weekend when we were at the Heroes in Healthcare fundraiser (for the Visiting Nurse Association of Boston) I hung around and made sure my bid was the last on the list. Ended up the high bidder on a 36"x36" acrylic by a local artist, Fernando De Oliveira, it will look nice in the hall near the kitchen. Now all I have to do is hang the darn thing up.

On the outdoors side of things, just started some lettuce seedlings. Using some old take-out containers and a desk lamp with a compact flourescent bulb in it to get them started, and just put a small fan nearby to keep them from getting moldy. Just ordered a bunch of herb seed from Johnny's Seeds Was cleaning up the yard a little and saw that the Oregano (planted among some rocks along the driveay) is starting to come back. Besides a little bit of post-winter cleanup the only other thing I'm doing outside is farming the rocks...moving them around to make some steps in the backyard, and will probably bury some in areas that need drainage. Actually got a flurry of snow today, so it's clearly too early to plant anything outside.
