Homebodies

The last couple of months have been spent upgrading and repairing things around the house. Water heater sprung a leak just a couple weeks shy of ten years old, so had that replaced. We've been thinking about replacing the aging (50 year old) boiler (house heat); lately some of the peripherals (pump, pressure regulator valve) have been acting up, plus the newer boilers are easily 30% more efficient. So we took the leap and had a new high-tech "modcon" (modulating condensing) boiler installed. Had the hot water heater held out another month we could've combined the two by attaching a passive tank to the new boiler and gotten a few more percent efficiency out of the system. Suffice to say, our travel budget for a while is limited to how far we can go on a tank of gas in the Subaru.

We also spent some time helping our friend prepare her house for sale. It takes a village to sell a house! http://vow.mlspin.com/idx/details.aspx?mls=71065805&aid=BB801379
